Our Story
In the Solomon Islands, there exists a poignant tale of a tree’s demise that mirrors the challenges faced by elderly individuals in our society. Legend has it that to kill a tree, one wouldn’t chop it down or harm it directly. Instead, they would cease speaking to it, ignore its presence, and withhold the care it needed to thrive. Slowly, the tree would wither and die, not from direct harm, but from neglect and disregard. This metaphor underscores the profound challenges experienced by the elderly, who are often overlooked, ignored, and deprived of the care and attention necessary for flourishing.
